Shakil sacrificed his own happiness for his sister's smile
A family of poverty, a brother's love, and a new beginning for an unfinished dream
Shakil is next to Rina.
Shakil and his younger sister Rina lived at the end of a small village. After their father died, all the responsibilities of the family fell on Shakil's shoulders. Even though he was young, circumstances had brought him up long ago.
Rina was very good at studies. Her dream was to one day stand on her own feet and eliminate all the troubles of her family. But in a poor family, there was often no money even to buy books and notebooks. When Rina would talk about quitting her studies, Shakil would tell her, "You just study. I will never let your dreams stop."
A brother's silent struggle
Shakil worked hard every day to pay for Rina's education. He worked in the market in the morning, worked as a construction worker in the afternoon—everything he did, but he would come home at night to check on his sister's education.
One day, it was the last day to pay Rina's exam fees. There was no money at home. Rina cried and said, "Brother, I may not be able to take the exam this time."
Shakil left without answering. A few hours later, he returned and handed Rina the exam money.
Rina asked in surprise, "Brother, where did you get the money?"
Shakil smiled and said, "My suffering is worthless in front of your dream."
Rina's new path
After a few years, Rina got the opportunity to study in a good college in the city. But the cost of education there was high. Many of her relatives said, “What will happen to my daughter’s education after spending so much money?”
Shakil didn’t listen to anyone. He even gave the little savings he had saved for himself to Rina’s education.
The day she went to the city, Rina burst into tears. Shakil placed his hand on her head and said, “Don’t cry today. One day, when you return home successful, these tears will turn into joy.”
After many years
Finally, Rina finished her studies and settled in her life. After many years, she returned to her village home.
Standing in front of the house, Rina saw her brother. Shakil was still living a simple life. Although he did nothing for himself, he never hesitated to build a future for his sister.
Rina built a beautiful house for her brother with the money she earned. She put a plaque on the door of the house—
“This house belongs to the elder brother who sacrificed his own dreams to keep mine alive.”
Shakil's eyes well up with tears as he sees the plaque.
He simply says, "You are well—that is the greatest blessing of my life."
Last minute love
Rina held her brother's hand and said, "Brother, you didn't just give me the opportunity to study. You gave me the courage to create my own life."
Shakil smiled softly and said, "You are my younger sister. I can do this much for you."
Rina hugged her brother and started crying. At that moment, the tears in their eyes told the story of love that had been accumulating for years.
Story education
True love between brothers and sisters is not based on any self-interest. The sacrifice of an elder brother may seem small to the world, but in the life of a sister, that sacrifice can become her greatest strength.
